What You Need to Rent a Property in Spain
- Identification: passport or ID card and, for long-term rentals, usually your NIE.
- Proof of income or solvency: payslips, pension statements or bank statements.
- Deposit (fianza): for long-term residential rentals the legal deposit is one month's rent. Landlords may ask for additional guarantees of up to two months.
- Agency fees: for long-term residential rentals, Spanish law (Housing Law 2023) requires the landlord to pay the agency's management fees.
